Project Description
This collaborative project is planned and led by FILTER017® founder and art director Enzo Lin, who oversaw design execution and creative direction. Production and release are handled by the brand’s cultural and art division, Culture Supply™.
The concept takes PLAYBOY’s iconic adult‑art magazine as a key cultural starting point, reinterpreted through FILTER017®’s signature blend of visual elements and contemporary editorial design language. Illustrator Baku Maeda brings his signature “EYE OF FIRE” motif to reinterpret PLAYBOY’s most recognizable symbols—the Bunny Head logo, the Gentleman Bunny, and the Playboy Bunny—reconstructing the classic magazine cover aesthetic in a modern context.
Rather than pursuing eroticism or simply replicating sensual imagery, the project responds more thoughtfully to PLAYBOY’s long‑standing core theme: how female identity is imagined and represented in contemporary culture. At the same time, it pays tribute to the iconic visual language of past eras, when magazine covers served as a powerful medium of artistic and cultural expression.
By deconstructing historical covers, illustration styles, and graphic symbols, the project re‑edits and transforms them into contemporary creative forms, expressing diverse perspectives on femininity, urban life, and the spirit of freedom.
